Flow Meters
Industrial flow meters are an important component to any liquid chemical management system. As a leading distributor of liquid handling equipment, Vissers Sales has been providing the best equipment for over forty years.
Water flow meters are responsible for measuring the rate of water flow through a specific pipe. There are multiple industrial flow controls and various technologies to apply to your specific liquid handling needs. Some factors to consider when choosing water meters are listed below:
- Budget
- Specific Application
- Necessary Scheduled Maintenance
The four types of water flow meters are below:
- Mechanical Flow Meter
- Magnetic Flow Meter
- Vortex
- Ultrasonic
Mechanical Flow Meter
The most common water flow meter uses a rotating turbine to measure the flow. The rate is determined by the proportionate rate at which the turbine blades spin. Because they require the turbines to spin to determine this, they will not work properly in low water pressure systems. While accurate, mechanical water meters can easily clog when used in systems processing liquids with large particulates.
Magnetic Flow Meter
Using a magnetic field to measure flow rate, a magnetic flow meter is designed around the principle that any liquid can generate voltage. The faster the rate of flow, the more voltage generated. Using LED displays, these contact water meters are incredibly accurate.
Vortex Flow Meter
Flow meter suppliers like the vortex flow meter because it can measure up to five variables which include:
- Density
- Temperature
- Pressure
- Mass
- Volumetric Flow
Ultrasonic Flow Meter
These are suited for high flow rates and uses ultrasound to measure the flow rate. It measures the receiver times between two ultrasonic signals transmitted upstream and downstream.
